Impressions: Never heard of the chip or the manufacturer. The thing works fine though. Does a great job with a Raspberry Pi as well.

Lontium LT8511A
On my dell xps 15 it works for ~ 10 seconds every 50 tries.

I am afraid it's an issue with the chip drawing too much current.
